About the Author
Ruskin Bond has been writing for over sixty years, and has now over 120 titles in printnovels, collections of stories, poetry, essays, anthologies and books for children. His first novel, The Room on the Roof, received the prestigious John Llewellyn Rhys award in 1957. He has also received the Padma Shri, and two awards from the Sahitya Akademione for his short stories and another for his writings for children. In 2012, the Delhi government gave him its Lifetime Achievement award. Born in 1934, Ruskin Bond grew up in Jamnagar, Shimla, New Delhi and Dehradun. Apart from three years in the UK, he has spent all his life in India, and now lives in Mussoorie with his adopted family. Great Book for parents to read/share with their sons

This book is not only beautiful on the outside, it is on the inside as well. It shares so many great inspirations and goals that every young man should aspire for. I would recommend this book to all young men. We need something like this is the inner city schools as a guide for young men. There are so many households that lack that father figure and of course, a book cannot replace that figure, but it has great guidance to help those young man that don't have a positive roll model to look up to.

I think it would be great if there was a poster to go along with this book. This way as young men accomplish the 101 things mentioned, they can check mark it off as, "I have succeeded in completing this statement."

If you are the parent of a young man of color, you will be crazy not to get this book.

As a Juvenile Court Counselor in the State of North Carolina I have the opportunity to work with many young men of color. When I read this book it showed me what so many of these young men are missing. This book and video (Men II Boys) gives it's reader and viewers things to show young men of color. Since purchasing this book I have ask young men if they knew how to tie a tie, if they know how to pray, if they know how to shave etc. The answer is always "NO". We need to teach them in order to reach them. Please people get the book. My seven year old is reading it now (it's an easy read) and we will begin the teaching after the reading.

Book was very ,very small. Not much to it at all. I was expecting a lot more out of this book...I thought it would demonstrate or tell step by step how to tie a tie not just state know how to tie a tie. I thought it would go into detail about things and engage the attention of a young male but it did not I have two sons 16 and 9 and neither one appreciated it. Very overpriced for book and shipping! These are things that all boys can know as well not just Black just explain how so they can do it.

The commercial availability of standard bacteriological media has largely eliminated the need for preparation of such media by most laboratories. As a result, the composition of such media is generally overlooked. Atlas provides an encyclopedia on the subject as well as a comprehensive reference containing compositions of all standard media. The book begins with an overview of the subject, defining terms and providing an extensive list of references. This section includes a summary of sterilization techniques ranging from historical (Tyndallization) to contemporary (modern autoclave). The inclusion of Web resources provides an additional source of information. The major portion of the book consists of more than 7,000 formulations of media, both common and obscure and specialized, and methods of preparation. This latest edition also includes composition of media for identification of newly recognized pathogens such as Escherichia coli 0157 and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. In addition to the specific media entries within the book, the index includes a listing of microorganisms along with media conducive for their growth. Good recipe book, but lacks information related to quality assurance regarding incubation times, temperatures, atmospheres etc.

Contains a lot of media recipes. It does however lack information about what temperatures, incubation times and atmospheric conditions (ie aerobic, anaerobic, microaerophilic or capnophilic conditions etc.) to be used with the different media. Also no information on what control strains (reference ie ATCC) to use for quality assurance and also growth characteristics are missing. Also practical steps for preparation often seem to be incomplete. That is a pity - since it would have gotten full score if that information had been supplied.

Mainly it looks as if it was not microbiologists who wrote this book, but rather librarians.

This book is a real Winner!

Author Hill shows how real life situations can be turned into victory supernaturally by the power of God's Word. Each chapter portrays an example taken from a real experience where trouble was met head on with scripture and subsequently turn into triumph. Hill's unique brand of humor keeps things interesting from beginning to end while is writing style is one that would appeal to teenagers and adults alike. The inspiring message of this book is that everyone can live life as a winner when they have Jesus in their life.
